The launch of any new software is always greeted with great enthusiasm. Similar reactions were given by the people when HTML5 was launched in the market. HTML has so many features; it is error free and also allows you to create boxes with curvy edges. Apart from that it also provides named colors rather than the conventional cryptic RGB hexadecimal numbers.
Features of HTML5 design
Many features of the older version have been removed and the latest one has been simplified to a great extent.
The standards for HTML construction have been eased, perhaps to too great an extent. Microsoft’s Visual Studio enforces a stricter standard.
There are new features of HTML5 design, formerly the domain of the JavaScript. There is now Video, Audio, Forms, Validation, Sliders, Date Pickers, Color Pickers, Geolocation, Local Storage, Offline Web Applications, Placeholders, Autofocus, and a lot more. Thus you will not need any JavaScript and new semantic elements have also been included.
The Semantic Elements
Many new Semantic Elements have been introduced though they are not needed much in the field of web designing services. Newer elements for section, Header, Footer, Navigation, Article and much more have been introduced. The HTML structure is understandable by both coders and the search engine crawlers.
But the new structures along with the CSS do not seem to simplify the coding process at all. The complexity of Headers within Sections within Articles within Headers is rather dreadful. And then there is the complexity of the CSS3 also involved in it. The Website coder will need to be a graduate with a degree in Logic and Semantic Differentials, before being able to fully comprehend what the new Semantic Elements features are all about.
The Search Engines
If the popular search engine gain from these semantic features is quite a debatable task. But the coders need to use a lot of logic to cope up with both the new and traditional coding structures. Apart from that it does not take long for inventive coder to get confused between the elements and the structure to gain higher rankings on the popular search engines.
The Older Browsers
The number of people worldwide using Internet Explorer has reduced to less than 1%. IE6 usage is low enough to be ignored, but IE7 and IE8 user numbers are still too high to be disregarded.
With some little additions, the old Browsers are able to handle the new features without too much botheration. There is “Modernizr” which will detect support, or lack of support, for best HTML5 design and CSS3 features in the user’s Browser. The Progressive Internet Explorer will add Polyfill features like curvy corners, gradients and shadows.
HTML5 and Mobiles
The explosion in growth of the Mobile has fostered a growth in the popularity of HTML5 and JavaScript; the language will be of your choice.
Whether the success of HTML5 in the Mobile market will translate to the desktop and Websites is debatable. Starting from fresh to program a new iPad is one thing converting 700 million Websites is yet another.
